Highland Dress

This area of the web site is dedicated to the book "Highland Dress" by George F. Collie published in 1948. Since the term of copyright has expired and that the book is a very rare and invaluable source for research and interest it was thought that it should be reproduced electronically in it's entirety. A Clann objective is to try and repair the damage to Scottish culture caused by the "act of proscription" in 1746 which can be read on this site along with the repeal which was enacted in the year 1782.

Attention is drawn to the artist R. McIan, who created the colour plates from which the images have been taken, these were first published in 1845.
